Darkness does not always begin by attacking. Sometimes it begins by accusing. It raises a claim, demands vengeance, and then attempts to turn that accusation into a judgement. What later appears as affliction, repeated loss, resistance, or captivity may be darkness trying to enforce what it believes has already been decided. This is why some battles continue despite effort. We fight what is being enforced without confronting what is speaking.
An evil covenant, a dedication, or a wicked pronouncement can speak. Blood shed in the establishment of a dark agreement can cry for its terms to be fulfilled; a demand for vengeance can continue insisting that someone must pay. But none of these is the only blood with a voice.
Hebrews brings us to Jesus and to “the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel”. The blood of Jesus does not merely speak good things; it speaks better things because it enters every situation with a superior covenant, a greater sacrifice, and an authority darkness cannot match.
Abel’s blood cried from the ground, and God responded. Cain had buried his brother, but he could not bury the voice of the blood. The blood carried an unresolved condition into the presence of God and demanded judgement. If the blood of Abel could speak, the blood of Jesus cannot be silent.
But the blood of Jesus does not repeat Abel’s cry. Abel’s blood demanded vengeance; the blood of Jesus speaks mercy. Abel’s blood called for judgement against the one responsible; the blood of Jesus rises in defence of those who come under His covenant. Abel’s blood announced that payment was required; the blood of Jesus declares that the highest price has been paid.
Mercy is not the absence of power. When the blood speaks mercy, it breaks the demand of vengeance. It refuses to allow an old cry to determine a new future. It stands between the believer and the judgement darkness wants to enforce. This is the defence of the blood. It does not beg the court of darkness to reconsider its decision. It challenges the authority by which that decision was made. It declares that the one being accused has been purchased by Jesus Christ and now stands beneath a covenant that is greater than every covenant darkness can present.
When the blood speaks in your defence, hell is not hearing the voice of a helpless victim. It is hearing the testimony of the Christ who conquered it.
Perhaps something has been speaking against your family for years. Its effects may be visible enough to appear unquestionable in the same loss and affliction repeating, the same barrier rising, and darkness using this repetition as evidence that its judgement cannot be changed.
The blood speaks defence. It speaks against every evil judgement demanding enforcement. It speaks against vengeance, insisting upon payment. It speaks against covenants attempting to preserve their hold. It speaks mercy, deliverance, ownership and a new verdict. Revelation says that the saints overcame the accuser “by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony.” Their testimony did not make the blood powerful. It announced that they had placed their confidence in its voice.
You must do the same. Bring every recurring judgement beneath the blood. Bring every evil covenant and demand for vengeance beneath the blood. Refuse to inherit a verdict that contradicts the finished work of Christ. When the blood speaks, accusation and vengeance lose their demand, and the evil covenant loses its claim, and the verdict changes.
Prayer
Father, let the blood of Jesus answer every evil voice, ungodly covenant and demand working against my life and family. Wherever vengeance has been crying, let mercy prevail. Wherever accusation has risen, let Jesus stand as my Advocate. I have no defence greater than Christ and no plea stronger than His blood. Let the blood speak above every other voice in Jesus’ name.
