Scripture: Psalm 37:5

“Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.”

There are things in life that do not yield to worry, struggle, or human effort. You can think about them endlessly, pray about them repeatedly, and still find that they will not move by your strength. Hence, the focus of this verse. Today’s verse does not tell you to carry your way alone; it tells you to commit it to the Lord.

Your way refers to the course of your life, the direction you long for, the things you are trusting God for, the questions still left open, and the future you cannot unfold by yourself. Scripture admonishes that we commit that way to the Lord. To commit is to place it into His hands instead of holding it as though the outcome rests on your power.

Many of us know how to mention things to God, but not how to truly leave them with Him. We pray, yet carry the burden as though prayer changed nothing. We ask God to intervene, yet continue inwardly as though everything still rises or falls on us. We speak faith with our lips, while the heart remains tied to fear and control.

But the verse shows another way: commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him.

Do not only place it before Him; leave it with Him. Trust Him enough not to live as though He is unable. Trust Him enough to believe that what concerns you is not beyond His reach. Then He shall bring it to pass.

He does not ask you to commit your way to Him for nothing. He does not tell you to trust Him and then stand far off from what concerns you. He says He will bring it to pass. Your fulfillment will not come by your striving, panic, or forcing things into place. This does not mean everything will happen exactly as you imagined. But it does mean that a life placed in God’s hands is not abandoned there. because He knows how to open what no man can shut. He knows better how to preserve what belongs to you and remove what does not. He knows how to do, in His time, what anxiety can never accomplish.

Some burdens remain heavy because we have not truly committed them to God. We are still carrying in our hearts what we have already spoken to God about. But trust is not only saying, “Lord, see this matter.” Trust says, “Lord, I hand over this before You because You are able to bring to pass what I cannot.”

Prayer
Lord, I commit my way to You. I place before You the things I cannot force, arrange, or bring forth by my own strength. Teach me to trust You, not only with my words but also with my heart, in Jesus name, amen.
