“But David encouraged himself in the Lord his God. And David enquired at the Lord, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And He answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.” — 1 Samuel 30:6, 8.
David had every reason to remain on the ground. His home had been burnt; his family had been taken. The people who once followed him now spoke of stoning him, and he had cried until there was no strength left to cry.
But David did not allow his lowest moment to become his final position. He strengthened himself in the Lord; he prayed and requested direction from God. Then God said one word that demanded movement: “Pursue.”
God did not promise recovery while David remained seated in the ashes. The strength David received in God’s presence was strength to rise, move, confront the enemy, and take back what had been stolen.
There is a time to wait; there is a time to speak, but there is also a time to act. Some situations remain unchanged because we are waiting for God to do His part when He has given us strength. We ask for a door to open, yet we refuse to knock; we ask God for progress but keep postponing the step that could move us forward. Prayer should not become a hiding place from responsibility.
Likewise, the strength of God is given to make you rise again, not only to make you feel better. God strengthens weak hands so they can work; He steadies trembling feet so they can move; He renews courage so that fear no longer decides what you will or will not do.
What has God already told you to do?
Arise, make the call, submit the application, return to the work, begin again, apologize, seek help, and walk away from what keeps destroying you. Take the first step, even if it appears small.
You may not feel completely ready. David did not pursue because everything had suddenly become easy; he pursued because God had spoken, and he trusted that the strength to obey would meet him on the way. Sometimes, we want God to show us the entire road before we move. But God often gives enough light for the next step. Strength becomes visible when it is used. Do not spend another season discussing what must be done. Yes, you have prayed about it; you have spoken faith over it, now rise!!!
The enemy may have taken something from you, but he does not automatically keep everything he has touched. There are things that can still be recovered, opportunities that can still be pursued, broken places that can still be rebuilt, and dreams that can still live again.
Rise, pursue, and recover.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for renewing my strength and putting faith in my heart. Give me courage to take the step I have been avoiding. By Your strength, I will rise, pursue, and recover everything You have ordained for me. Amen.
