Some of us treat God like a destination we visit when life gets noisy, an emergency room for the soul. We rush in with our needs, collect strength, then rush out again. David didn’t describe God’s presence as a place to stop by, but a place to dwell. An appointment has a start time and an end time. A dwelling place is where your heart settles. An appointment says, I came for what I need. A dwelling says, I want to continually stay here.

God is not offended by your requests, but He is inviting you into something deeper than constant asking. He wants you to know Him, not just consult Him. That’s why Jesus said, “Abide in Me.” Not, Visit Me when you’re tired. Abide means remain. Stay. Make your home in Him.

When you make God your dwelling, you stop measuring the value of prayer by what you got. and you start measuring it by Who you met. You begin to enjoy His presence with something bigger than answers, and activate peace that doesn’t depend on outcomes, strength that doesn’t need applause.

Today, don’t come to God like a customer. Come like a child who has found home. Don’t rush. Come with one desire, to dwell in His presence, and remember, the goal isn’t to use His presence, but to love Him there.

Prayer: Father, forgive me for treating Your presence like a quick visit. Teach my heart to dwell in you. Help me to know and love You for who you are. Amen.
