Scripture: Isaiah 53:5
“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”
The stripes of Jesus are more than a story to remember; they are the price that was paid for your healing. Those stripes were not a small part of His journey to the cross; His body was torn so that broken bodies could be healed. He accepted pain so we wouldn’t remain in pain. The price was not paid with money, promises or kind words; it was paid upon His body. Every stripe declared that our suffering had been taken into account and that healing would be made available to us.
There was a woman in the Bible who did not take this prophecy for granted. Many people surrounded Jesus that day, but only one person touched Him with a clear expectation of healing. They were all close to the same power, but they did not all receive from it. The woman refused to remain in the crowd only to see what Jesus had done for others. She settled it in her heart: “If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.”
The woman did not touch Jesus to find out whether He could heal her; she touched Him because she had already decided what would happen: “I shall be whole.” Her body was weak, but her faith had reached a conclusion. The crowd could not stop her; her past disappointments could not silence her. She did not say, “Maybe something may happen.” She said, “I shall be whole.”
This is the faith that must rise in us today. It is possible to know Isaiah 53:5, speak about the stripes and still remain in the crowd. It is possible to believe that Jesus heals while quietly accepting that your own condition may never change. You can celebrate the healing of others yet remain afraid to reach for your own.
Today, do not only repeat, “By His stripes I am healed.” Let those words awaken expectation in you. The stripes are proof that Jesus has already taken your healing seriously enough to suffer for it. If He bore such a price, do not treat healing as something too far away to receive.
Bring the exact condition, the pain that has become familiar, the weakness you have learnt to manage and the report that has filled your mind with fear. Bring the anxiety, the sleepless nights and the thoughts of what may happen tomorrow. Fix your heart upon His stripes and expect His healing power to touch you. Let faith rise now. Receive healing in your body and peace in your mind, because the chastisement of your peace was also upon Him, and by His stripes you are healed.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, I believe that You bore the stripes for my healing. I bring every sickness, pain, weakness and troubling condition before You now; let Your healing power flow through my body, touch every place where sickness has taken hold, and restore what has been damaged or weakened.
I reject the fear and torment that have entered my mind through this affliction. Because the chastisement of my peace was upon You, I receive peace now. I refuse to believe that my condition is beyond Your power.
I receive my healing now in Jesus’ name. Amen.
