Scripture: Genesis 3:8
God did not create man to live at a distance from Him. From the beginning, God desired fellowship. Before man had ministry, title, platform, or assignment, he had access to the presence of God. The first picture of man was not a man struggling to find God, but a man living in a garden where God could come and commune with him.
We can become busy with the things of God and yet lose the nearness of God. We can have the words of prayer, attend gatherings, serve in church, and still not have a heart that waits for His fellowship. But God is not only looking for activity; He is looking for communion.
When God came walking in the garden, He was not looking for a program. He was looking for man. The God of heaven desires fellowship with flesh. The Almighty still draws near, calls, knocks, and still waits for hearts that will not treat His presence as a disruption.
A hungry believer is not satisfied with knowing about God from a distance. Hunger says, “Lord, I want more than routine, I want Your nearness, I want my heart to know Your voice, I want my life to become a place where You are welcome.”
The disaster in not having fellowship is not that God is unwilling to come near, but that many have become too occupied to notice when He comes. Many have built lives full of movement but empty of communion. They can speak of God but rarely sit with God. They can work for Him but hardly wait before Him.
Today, let your cry be simple: Lord, restore my hunger for fellowship. Let my heart not become a place You visit and find no welcome. Make me sensitive again. Draw me beyond religion into relationship, beyond service into intimacy, and beyond knowing Your name into knowing Your presence.
Prayer:
Lord, awaken my hunger for You. Deliver me from empty activity and cold religion. Teach me to love Your presence, to wait for Your voice, and to welcome Your fellowship. Let my life become a place where You are pleased to dwell. Amen.
