When God Makes A way

Scripture: Isaiah 43:16

“Thus says the Lord, who makes a way in the sea and a path in the mighty waters.”

God does not introduce Himself here as a healer, provider, or shepherd. He introduces Himself by what He does in impossibility.

He makes a way in the sea.

The sea in this verse is not inconvenience, it is termination. It is where movement stops, where strength becomes irrelevant. It is the kind of barrier that does not negotiate.

Israel did not stand before shallow water. They stood before depth with an army behind them. Forward was impossible; backward was fatal. There was no alternative route, no backup plan, and into that sealed moment, God did not give advice.

He revealed Himself.

The way was not waiting beneath the water. It did not exist until He spoke. The path did not pre-form itself, it responded to authority. When God makes a way, He is not rearranging circumstances. He is exercising dominion. The waters did not vanish, they stood back. The threat did not disappear, it submitted. God makes a way in the sea, not around it or after it dries, but in it. This means the place that looks like your end may be the very material He uses to display His rule.

The sea was meant to drown them, instead, it became the corridor of their deliverance, and when they crossed, it was clear: this was not strategy. This was God.

If you are staring at something that looks immovable, something that refuses logic and seems to mock your effort, call on God to step in, because when the Lord makes a way, what looks impossible becomes possible, what you thought was the end becomes the place you walk through, and when it happens, no one will call it coincidence, it will be clear that God stepped into what tried to stop you.

Prayer: Father, I stand before You with what feels immovable, and I confess that I cannot make a path for myself. Where I see walls, You see waters that can part. Where I see the end, You see a passage. Speak into the place that has held me still, and let Your authority move through what has resisted me. Make a way where I cannot imagine one, and steady my heart until I walk through it. Amen.
