“…I will work, and who shall let it?”

One of the quiet dangers of prolonged warfare is that it can make resistance look lawful. What has stood before you for a long time can begin to look as though it has earned the right to remain; what keeps saying no can start sounding final, and what has delayed, denied, and withstood you can slowly move from being an opposition to becoming a verdict in your mind.

Many people lose before they ever say they have lost. They do not announce unbelief; they absorb it; they adjust to what is fighting them and lower expectations. They begin to live as though what is resisting them now has the right to define them.

Then God speaks: “I will work.” He’s not saying, “I will try” or “I will consider it.” Then He presents the question that drags every opposing thing into the light: Who can let it? Who truly has the power to hold back the hand of God? Who can make Him withdraw? Who can stand over His counsel and edit its outcome? This is divine contempt against every force that has tried to magnify itself before you. God is not impressed by what impressed your fear. He is not intimidated by what has wearied your heart.

You must understand that whatever fights God’s word in your life is already operating beyond its rank. It may be loud, stubborn, or might have lasted for a long time, but it is still beneath Him, because length is not lordship. Just because it resisted does not mean it ruled or has authority.

Some things survive in a believer’s life only because they have been granted too much inward reverence. They have been feared too deeply, studied too long, and spoken of too highly, and anything you keep exalting will keep acting tall before you. But God’s voice cuts things back to size. Sickness, delay, closed doors, and prolonged battle are not God. So why are you speaking of it as though it sits above your tomorrow?

There comes a point where your heart must refuse to bow to what is only surviving on permission it did not create. God has not handed over His seat because your situation became aggressive. He has not stepped aside because the battle grew teeth. He is still God where you are bleeding, still God where you are waiting, still God where nothing has moved yet.

If He says, “I will work,” then the matter is still open, because God has spoken, and nothing standing against you has risen high enough to rule over His word.

Prayer: Lord, forgive me for every way I have spoken of resistance as though it were final. Cut every opposing thing back to size in my heart. Let Your voice rise above the noise and let every stubborn battle learn that it is not God., in Jesus’ name, amen.
