Song: Great is thy faithfulness

There is a version of your life that did not happen, a version where something could have ended you, where something should have broken beyond repair, and where you should not have risen again, but that version did not happen. You are still here, and that should make you reflect.

When a person has lived long enough and seen enough, they know that still being here is not by chance; to still be standing after certain seasons is not ordinary; to have breath after certain battles and to still have hope after certain disappointments says something deeper than just survival. It says God has been faithful.

“Great is Your faithfulness” reveals not just faithfulness, but great faithfulness. Great because His faithfulness has carried you farther than you could have carried yourself. Great because it has shown up in more ways than you can count. Great because even you do not know how many times God preserved you, restrained something, redirected something, or quietly held you together.

There are things you can point to clearly and say, “God was faithful there.” You can remember the prayer He answered, the provision that came, the help He sent, the season He brought you through. But there are also many things you cannot fully trace. There were dangers you never knew were near. There were weights that should have done more damage than they did. There were doors that did not open, only for you to later realize that God had spared you. There were days you thought you were carrying yourself, when God was the One keeping you from falling apart.

God’s faithfulness is greater than what you have noticed, greater than the testimonies you remember, and the words you know how to use for it. You have seen some of it, but you have lived inside more of it than you know. If you are honest, that is the reason you are still here. You are still breathing, still moving, and still not swallowed by what tried to take you down.

So when you say, “Great is Your faithfulness,” let it come from a place of deep gratitude. Let it come from looking at your life properly and admitting that you did not keep yourself. Let it come from knowing that the mercy, help, restraint, and sustaining grace of God have followed you in more ways than you can measure. You may not be able to explain it all, and you may not be able to count it all, but you are standing in the evidence of it. You are still here, and that is reason enough to say, Great is Your faithfulness.

Prayer
Lord, thank You for Your faithfulness in the ways I have seen and in the ways I have not seen. Thank You for keeping me, helping me, and carrying me through more than I even realize. Let my heart remain grateful and grounded in the truth that Your faithfulness is real and beyond measure. In Jesus’ name, amen.
