Scripture: Proverbs 6:6–8

When scripture says, “Go to the ant… consider her ways, and be wise,” it immediately feels humbling. God points a human being to something so small, so common, and so easy to ignore.

Why would God do that?

Because the ant carries such wisdom that is easy to overlook. Yet, it is small, but it is not weak; it is quiet, but it is not passive; you can interrupt it, scatter it, or step into its path, but it has a way of finding movement again. It adjusts, regroups, and continues.

The ant does not look powerful, but it is resilient. It does not need to announce strength for you to see it; however, its strength is in the fact that it keeps going. It gathers in summer and prepares in harvest. It stays engaged with its assignment. It does not allow interruption to become an excuse for abandoning what must be done.

Many people are not stopped by impossibility. They are stopped by disruption. Something breaks their rhythm, and they never fully recover it. Something goes wrong, and their heart follows the disappointment. Something delays them, and they begin to live as though the delay has the final say. But the ant does not seem to know how to stay down. It does not build its life around interruption. It continues.

There is something deeply instructive about that. The ant has no guide, no overseer, and no ruler, yet it keeps moving in the direction of its assignment. It keeps responding to its season. It keeps doing what needs to be done. Quietly, steadily, and without drama.

Perhaps that is why God points to it because sometimes wisdom is not found in what looks mighty; it is seen in a life that refuses to become stranded because something got in the way. It is seen in the quiet grace to continue after disappointment or resistance.

Go to the ant. Look at a creature that does not let its size become its excuse. Look at something small that doesn’t give up. Then ask yourself honestly: what made me stop? What interruption became too heavy in my heart? Where did I lose my movement? Because some things do not break just because you prayed once; they shift as you keep moving with God. The ant understands something many people forget: interruption does not have to become the end of the story.

The ant may be small, but it is not stoppable.

Prayer
Lord, put strength in me that refuses to stop. Teach me how to continue through interruption, delay, and resistance. I receive grace to remain steady in the path You have set before me. I will not lose my movement. In Jesus’s mighty name, amen.
