There are seasons when life feels like Genesis 1:2, without form, empty, and covered in darkness; moments when life no longer feels like a clear path; it feels like a shapeless stretch of uncertainty. You cannot properly explain it, but you know something is not aligned. Things that should be moving are delayed. Things that should be clear are clouded.

That is the atmosphere Genesis 1 opens with. The earth was without form and void. Darkness covered the face of the deep. It was not just empty; it was disordered. God’s first response did not begin by discussing the darkness or negotiating with the chaos. He spoke: “Let there be light.”

That command was not just the introduction of brightness but the announcement of divine order. Light was heaven’s first answer to confusion. Light was God’s first declaration that darkness would not continue to dominate the atmosphere. Before the earth was filled, it was illuminated. Before it was beautified, it was brought under light, because wherever God intends to establish order, He first releases light.

Therefore, this word must not remain a creation story in our minds, it must become a prayer in our mouths. There are situations that do not first need explanation; they need light. There are battles that have continued, not because God is absent, but because the season is crying for illumination. Some people are carrying promise but living in confusion. Some have prayed about a matter for a long time, yet what remains missing is light: the light that reveals, the light that separates, the light that exposes what is wrong, the light that begins to set things in their proper place.

Darkness is not only the absence of brightness; in spiritual experience, darkness can look like confusion that will not break, cycles that will not end, and tension that has no clear source. Darkness makes people live beneath what God intended. But the power of Genesis 1:3 is that darkness was present, yet it was never sovereign. The moment God spoke, darkness lost its uninterrupted hold over the scene.

That means there are areas of your life where one word from God can begin a reordering.

So this is the cry for today: Lord, let there be light.
Let there be light in the place of confusion.
Let there be light where my life has felt disorganized.
Let there be light in my prayer life, in my emotions, in my home, in my health, in my calling, and in my future.
Let there be light until hidden things are exposed, wrong things are corrected, and scattered things begin to align.

This is not a weak prayer but a violent spiritual demand for divine order. When you ask for light, you are asking God for the kind of intervention that makes disorder uncomfortable.  So do not settle around what is shapeless or adapt to confusion. Stand before God with holy boldness and cry, “Over this matter, let there be light.” Let there be light until there is order. Let there be light until there is clarity. Let there be light until there is movement. Let there be light until what has been without form begins to reflect the hand of God.
