We are quick to thank God for life, for health, and for provision, and we should. But there is something deeper we quietly grow used to- grace. It becomes familiar and normal, and without realizing it, we stop being amazed by the very thing that saved us.

But grace is not normal.

Grace is that God saw you drifting and didn’t leave you there. It is that He followed you into places you don’t talk about, stayed through seasons when you were inconsistent, and kept reaching until your heart responded. You were not searching well, but you were being searched for.

Jesus described it in a way that human sense may not comprehend: a shepherd leaves ninety-nine to go after one. It sounds unreasonable until you realize you were the one. When you were wandering, God did not write you off as a loss. He treated you like a “search.” He did not reduce you to your failures. He remembered your value. That is why His love feels reckless to the natural mind. It is not careless but because it is unexplainably committed. That pursuit did not stop at feelings; it walked all the way to the cross.

Romans says, “While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” That means God did not love you after you changed; He loved you while you were still stuck. While you were still battling habits, His love did not pause until it found you.

That is what we forget.

We celebrate being alive but forget we were once lost. We thank God for today but overlook the mercy that brought us here. The truth is simple: you could have remained lost. Many do, but grace stepped in and rewrote your direction.

That is why your praise cannot be casual. Being found is not a small blessing; it is the root of every other blessing. If God didn’t find you, you wouldn’t even know what to ask Him for. If God didn’t find you, you might still be calling darkness “normal.”

Today, don’t praise God like He only added something to your life. Praise Him like someone who knows: He rescued me, changed my story, and refused to let me go.
